KABUL, Afghanistan -- Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan’s Essential Function 3 "Rule of Law" hosted three instructors from the US Defense Institute for International Legal Studies to conduct legal training at the Ministry of Defense here over a four day period this week. The subjects included Gross Violation of Human Rights, Law of Armed Conflict, counter corruption, and Children and Armed Conflict issues.
130 Afghan National Army students along with military judges, corps prosecutors, representatives from MOD legal, and guests from the Ministry of Interior attended and graduated, receiving certificates of accomplishment. The training greatly enhanced the students’ understanding of the various legal topics and will have a tremendous impact on future legal matters in the MOD and MOI. Trainers also included EF3's CAAC expert, Mr. Dornig and representatives from the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The event was a resounding success and will be repeated in 2017, subject to funding availability from DIILS.
