    Story by Bill Peoples

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 13, 2016) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is hosting the annual Lake Barkley Duck Blind Drawing Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 at the Barkley Tailwater Shelter. It is adjacent to Barkley Powerhouse at Kuttawa, Ky., in Lyon County.

Registration for the drawing begins at approximately 7:30 a.m. and the drawing starts at 8 a.m.

To enter the drawing, hunters must be 18 years of age, possess a 2016-2017 Kentucky hunting license, a Kentucky waterfowl permit, a Kentucky Harvest Information Program (HIP) confirmation number, and a federal migratory bird permit (duck stamp). Hunters drawn for blinds on Lake Barkley are responsible for locating, constructing and maintaining the blind site for the duration of the 2016-2017 waterfowl season. Each drawn hunter may select a co-owner of the blind site for use in the absence of the hunter drawn. The co-owner must be present at the drawing.

Hunters may construct a permanent blind or use a portable boat blind, but each blind site must have a permanent marker identifying the permit holders for the site. The permit holders have first priority for use of the blind site, but if they do not occupy the blinds at least 30 minutes before shooting time, the blind is available on a first-come-first-served basis to all hunters.
