KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Smoky Mountain Region Combined Federal Campaign kicked off its annual fund-raising drive Sept. 7 at the Tennessee Valley Authority headquarters outside Market Square in downtown Knoxville.

The region’s four-month drive is themed “Show Some Love,” and its goal is $550,000 donated for charitable organizations, said officials. Federal employees donated more than $645,000 last year.

“We hope that you will help us meet, and better yet, exceed that goal,” said Justin Maierhofer, regional CFC vice chair and vice president of TVA’s government relations organization.

Airmen from the I.G. Brown Training and Education Center joined representatives from TVA and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory for the event. They presented the colors and sang the National Anthem.

“Everybody in the federal work force has an important mission to perform, and what brings us together is the public service that we perform for this nation,” said Col. Kevin Donovan, TEC commander, to the assembly. “The vast majority of charitable giving comes from people like you and I.”

Contact your local CFC volunteer to receive a catalogue listing of eligible charities and to donate through a January-December 2017 payroll deduction or with a one-time gift.
