Healthcare Symposium at Arifjan

CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – The 10th Combat Support Hospital hosted a healthcare symposium for medical professionals in the area to share ideas and innovative processes to positively affect efficiency in the hospital environment September 4 at the U.S. Military Hospital-Kuwait.
The multi-component forum included appearances from healthcare leaders, practitioners and assistants from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, as well as from the Kuwait Military Hospital.
“We speak different languages and wear different uniforms but at the end of the day, medicine is medicine,” said Air Force Col. Jerry Rumbach, commander, 386th Expeditionary Medical Group.
The floor was opened for questions after several presentations were made by select healthcare professionals. Statistics were shared and solutions to different problems were presented.
“It’s always important to share ideas,” said Lt. Col. Brian Hemann, the theater consultant for cardiology at the U.S. Military Hospital-Kuwait. “The goal for this event is to allow the different organizations represented the ability to understand what we do at the 10th CSH.”
Hemann said the different hospitals and organizations will never do the exact same thing for every problem, but this forum allows the different groups to better understand each other’s processes so that patient transitions are seamless.
Several presentations, ranging from effective, innovative administrative processes to installation hazard assessments, chosen by a panel for their success and applicability, were set up to be shown after the guest speakers. These presentations featured other innovations developed by members of the different branches that attended.
“This was definitely a great way to inform others in the medical field,” said Air Force Capt. Gina McComb, a bioenvironmental engineer in the 386th EMDG. “It’s important to keep everyone informed.”
