This event was an opportunity for the public to experience what the daily life of a Marine was like. The event started with a two lap run around the park followed by stationary workouts to include squat, flutter kicks, mountain climbers, and burpees.
The exercises were lead by the Marines and tailored to promote maximum participation from the locals.
“We had an outstanding turn out today a lot more civilians from the city of Nashville came out than I expected which is great and I expect the same thing tomorrow,” said 1st Lt. Edward Bennett, S-4 Alpha with Headquarters and Service Company, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines. “The objective today was to show the people of Nashville what Marines do to stay physically fit, also to build squad integrity and show the importance of teamwork not only during PT but during Marine Corps life.”
After the workouts completed, the locals gathered together and took group pictures with the Marines.
“I feel great I really like the energy and learning some of the counts and I am so impressed by what the Marines do,” said Lechelle Moore, a Nashville native. “I just want to thank the Marines for their service I am impressed and grateful for what they do everyday.
This event is one of many events hosted by the Marine Corps during Marine Week. Any and all participates are welcome to attend the workout.
