The Combined Federal Campaign is a charity campaign to raise money for hundreds of charities across the country and across the world.

Every year, Marine Corps Installation – East leaders help kick off the annual drive for service members and their families by contributing to a cause that can help save lives.

“The CFC provides our service members the opportunity to donate to a variety of charities; there are over 20,000 charitable organizations to donate to,” said Brig. Gen. Thomas D. Weidley, commanding general of MCI – East and Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. “It’s all about providing opportunity to people, and it’s about giving back to the families in need.”

The CFC’s annual campaign last from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30 for service members who wish to donate to a charity of their choice.

“This is a once a year opportunity with the CFC that service members get to contribute to a great cause,” said John Armour, assistant chief of staff, G-1 at Camp Lejeune and CFC chairman. ““In the long run it’s going to help somebody who really needs it.”

Each command has a command coordinator for the CFC for service members looking for more information to donate.

“If service members just spend a few minutes, they can understand the value of their contribution and how it can make a difference for those who need it,” said Weidley.

If every service member and civilian with MCI – East were to donate just one dollar per pay period during the campaign season, it would generate over one million dollars for charities with the CFC.

“I think each charity speaks to individuals on their own merits and how that service member has been raised in their lives,” said Sgt. Maj. Scott Grade, sergeant major for MCI – East and Camp Lejeune. “I know service members will understand with this campaign, that there’s something out there that’s way bigger than them than just being a Marine; every dollar counts for a cause that as important as this.”
