Courtesy of a conglomerate of local community organizations, a special performance of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Baily presents Circus Xtreme was recently held.
Free of charge to military members, the show was part of a military appreciation day for the families of Fort Carson, Peterson Air Force Base, U.S. Air Force Academy and Schriever Air Force Base.
Five thousand seats at the Broadmoor World Arena were provided to the local bases for the enjoyment of children of all ages at the afternoon performance.
“I was given 35 free vouchers to pass out to my members and let me tell you, they went in less than 24 hours,” said Master Sgt. Gerald Morey, 21st Comptroller Squadron and Wing Staff Agency first sergeant.
The chance for military members to view the show for free and as part of being recognized and appreciated by the local community meant a great deal to those able to attend.
“I am always grateful for military appreciation events.” said Morey. “Being able to see “The Greatest Show on Earth” for free was an honor and I would like to thank the El Pomar’s Military Assistance Fund for making this event possible for our military families.”
This is the tenth year in a row that community organizations have come together to do something special for the military.
“We hope that this day can, in some small way, show how thankful our community is for the sacrifices our men and women in uniform make every day,” said William J. Hybl, El Pomar Foundation Chairman and CEO.
