    NATO Role III Multinational Medical Unit

    Newly advanced Navy Senior Chief Iris Gonzales (HMCS) was frocked at a formal ceremony at the NATO Role III MMU on Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan. Senior Chief Gonzales is currently on Individual Augmentee (IA) deployment to the NATO Role III Multinational Medical Unit in Kandahar, Afghanistan on the Oscar Rotation. Senior Chief Gonzales is on her eighteenth year of active duty service in the United States Navy and is currently stationed at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. Prior duty stations include serving as an instructor at Navy Hospital Corpsman School in San Antonio, TX , Hospital Corpsman for Carrier Strike Group Two aboard the USS Nimitz, and 1st Marine Expeditionary Force where she served as the lead petty officer (LPO) for the group aid station.

    Senior Chief Gonzales currently serves as the Senior Enlisted Leader for administration at the NATO Role III MMU at Kandahar Airfield. During her frocking ceremony Senior Chief Gonzales said "I feel very blessed and humbled by my selection to Senior Chief Petty Officer. It's an accomplishment that was met because of the guidance of my leadership, the hard work of my junior sailors, and the support of my family. I will keep paying it forward, as it was done for me."
