“It was great to be invited to their 70th anniversary of DPTA and to get to be a part of what their city is celebrating to show the people that we are here to support them, not just with celebrations and everyday activities but with training as well,” said Capt. Joel Marbut, operations officer for 3rd CAB, 69th Armor Reg. “It was a great opportunity for our Soldiers to be involved and I look forward to doing more events like this in the future.”

After the ceremony Polish citizens got a chance to speak and interact with Soldiers during two static displays of U.S. weapons, located on the same grassy field, as well as U.S. and Polish armored track vehicles which they could go visit at a nearby train station.

U.S. participation in the celebration is part of Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.

“I love the interaction with our Polish allies and to continue to come together,” said Spc. Ivan Aviles, native of Bronx, NY and wheel and track vehicle mechanic for 3rd CAB, 69th Armor Reg. “A lot of their vehicles are similar to ours and they were introducing me to their anti-radio antenna and they were overall very friendly. I like being on this training rotation where we get to meet our allies and learn that even though language separates us that fact that we all speak the same language in terms of maintenance and combat arms is pretty cool. I’m just glad that I have this experience to interact with foreign nationals; I can’t honestly say that anyone from my hometown has done anything like this and I’ll have a lot of good stories for when I go back home.”
