The I.G. Brown Training and Education Center’s broadcast studio, TEC-TV, produced and released its latest informational video in the “Did You Know” series this month.

Now playing: Did You Know – Military Vacancy Announcements. The two-minute segment gives information on the Air National Guard statutory tour program.

“This one specifically is important because Guard members are trying to find that balance to serve more and find opportunities out there, like stat tours, that they may not be aware of,” said Staff Sgt. Austin Shaffner, the broadcaster who produced the segment.

Did You Know videos highlight important topics in the Air National Guard and provide guidance to Airmen though its subject matter experts, said officials with the Media and Engagement Division.

The videos include closed-caption and are broadcast to bases through their Warrior Network channels and accessible through the Defense Video and Imagery Distribution System online. The TEC TV YouTube account provides additional, public viewing.

“I think video and interactive social media is the way to go to reach a broad audience in the Air National Guard, especially younger Airmen,” said Shaffner.

Two previous Did You Know segments centered on Motorcycle Safety and the smart use of Social Media.

The Air National Guard's satellite television broadcast studios operate on campus. Broadcasters help provide mass communication and distance learning via satellite and HD teletraining connections to more than 180 downlink sites, among other outlets.

Studio Airmen also work closely with the National Guard Bureau to report Army and Air National Guard news through a daily, one-minute broadcast, known as the Minuteman Report.
