The 20th Force Support Squadron Spratt Education and Training Center hosted a Spring Education Fair April 13, here.
The fair brought representatives from colleges and universities to inform Team Shaw members of an array of degree programs available ranging in different levels, subject matters, and formats.
Among the 16 colleges and universities, more than 230 attendees were able to speak to representatives about education options. Representatives were able to answer questions and provide informational material about the programs offered at their institutions.
“Actually talking to someone here helps out a lot,” said Airman 1st Class Jordan Keller, 20th Comptroller Squadron finances management accountant. “Any questions I have they’re able to answer. I wanted to see what options were out there and make an informed decision on what I want to do for my degree.”
Pursuing higher education presents opportunities for Team Shaw members to gain valuable knowledge and skills to apply in their careers as well as help prepare service members who are thinking about transitioning out of the military.
“Completion of a higher education degree requires discipline, commitment, and time management: all of which better prepare Airmen to perform in the Air Force,” said Katherine Haworth, 20th Force Support Squadron education and training section chief.
The pursuit of knowledge is an important aspect of the “whole Airman concept.” By simplifying the search for higher education, education fairs are able to help Team Shaw members grow personally and professionally, serving to maintain excellence in all we do.
