FORT BRAGG, N.C. – Soldiers and family members with the 1st Sustainment Command (Theater) say farewell to deploying members of White Team during a deployment ceremony at Dahl Physical Fitness Center April 7, 2016.
The team will deploy to Kuwait for nine months and provide support to Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Afghanistan and Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq. They will replace fellow 1st TSC Soldiers who will return to Fort Bragg next month.
During his remarks, Col. Johnney Matthews, deputy commanding general, 1st TSC, acknowledged the families of the deploying members as the key to a successful deployment while they maintain the household as their loved ones focus on their jobs.
“That job is just as important as anything the deploying Soldiers will do overseas,” said Matthews.
In addition to supporting operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, the team will also provide support to multi-national forces and observers in Task Force Sinai in Egypt.
“Everything we do affects some Soldier or civilian on some distant forward operating base or out-post,” said Matthews. “There are few units in the armed forces that have the ability to affect as much on the battlefield as the 1st TSC.”
The 1st TSC is a major subordinate command of U.S. Army Central with dual headquarters at Fort Bragg and Kuwait.
The command rotates Soldiers and civilians as part of a regular rotation between the command’s two headquarters.
