FORT BRAGG, N.C. – The guidon for Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, changed hands Thursday, March 24, 2016 during a change of command ceremony here.
After nearly two years in command, Capt. Vincent R. Wiggins Jr. relinquished his responsibilities as commander of Headquarters and Headquarters Battery and passed the coveted guidon to Capt. Chelsey L. Yingling, who assumed command of the battery on Panther Field at the Spartan Brigade Complex.
Maj. Shawn Geib, deputy commanding officer for the brigade, oversaw the passing of the guidon from Capt. Wiggins to Capt. Yingling. In doing so, he demonstrated his confidence in Capt. Yingling’s ability to handle the responsibility of command, while continuing a time honored tradition.
Upon relinquishing his command, Capt. Wiggins received a Meritorious Service Medal for his service as the battery commander and starts the next chapter of his Army career assigned to the XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, N.C.
The Soldiers of Headquarters and Headquarters Battery remained steadfast in their duties and responsibilities throughout the ceremony and maintained a professional demeanor as the ceremony concluded.
