MCGHEE TYSON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Tenn. - At least 54 Army and Air National Guard officers, enlisted and civilians who work regularly with high-ranking officers attended the General Officer Support Staff Course here this week at the I.G. Brown Training and Education Center campus.
The course's second offering included an increase in networking opportunities for the executive officers, secretaries, enlisted aids, traveling executives and assistants assigned to one- and two-star generals across the nation, where many serve at the states' joint forces headquarters.
"We took all of the feedback from the initial class last year to make improvements," said Tammie Smeltzer, with the TEC's professional and military education office.
The class helps general officers' staffs identify the challenges and the distinctive ways that their offices work with public affairs, protocol, the inspector general, and the judge advocate, among other interests.
