GROTON, Conn. - Navy Information Operations Detachment (NIOD) Groton held a Change of Charge ceremony at the Chapel on the Thames, Submarine Base New London, March 4.

During the ceremony, Lt. Cmdr. Steve Sollon transferred responsibility as the Officer in Charge (OIC) to Lt. Cmdr. Ryan Haag.

Capt. Joseph Finn, commander of Task Force 1030, presided over the event, praising Sollon for his exceptional leadership and the NIOD Groton Sailors for their outstanding support to the Task Force 1030 mission.

Under Sollon’s leadership, NIOD Groton successfully performed Fleet electronic support through equipment installation, cyber certification, and deployment of highly trained Information Warfare personnel in direct support of U.S. Submarine operations.

Sollon credited his success to the outstanding Sailors of NIOD Groton.

Haag, NIOD Groton’s new OIC, is reporting from Commander, Pacific Fleet and is eager to lead the detachment through a dynamic and challenging mission.

“I’m excited to be back working with submarines again,” said Haag. “NIOD Groton is an integral part of the submarine force’s success, and consistently delivers superior electronic support in a constantly changing environment. I’m truly humbled to get the chance to lead these fine Sailors.”

NIOD Groton is subordinate to Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Norfolk, and aligns under Commander, Task Force 1030 and ultimately Commander, Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. Tenth Fleet.

U.S. Fleet Cyber Command serves as the Navy component command to U.S. Strategic Command and U.S. Cyber Command, and the Navy's Service Cryptologic Component commander under the National Security Agency/Central Security Service. Fleet Cyber Command also reports directly to the Chief of Naval Operations as an echelon II command.

U.S. 10th Fleet is the operational arm of Fleet Cyber Command and executes its mission through a task force structure.
