QATAR - Being in a foreign nation is not simply being away from family, friends, and the creature comforts of America. In reality, it is an opportunity for Soldiers to be ambassadors of what America represents while at the same time getting an up close view of a foreign culture in its home nation.

These efforts are what make helps progress the mission that ASG-QA is carrying out in Qatar. When the Qatari’s see our Soldier’s actively taking time to understand and participate in their culture, it further tempers the bond we are forging with our hosts in the Middle East.

Approximately thirty Soldiers participated in the cultural tour of Al Zuburah Fort. The day included drinking tea, coffee, and eating foreign cuisine with our Qatari hosts. While also viewing ancient texts, monoliths, and architecture created by the forefathers of Qatar. The day was something that allowed our Soldiers to see a side of our hosts that we typically don’t see. To view a nations beginning, is to understand where they are headed.

Qatar is a nation that takes great pride in their faith, but takes even greater pride in their people. The foundation upon which Qatar was created is the same steady ground that our bond is being strengthened. The fight against terrorism and oppression, won’t stand a chance as long as we as a military force continue with these type of events and immersing ourselves in our hosts societies.
