FORT HOOD, Texas - More than 800 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers from the division's Assault Command Post will parachute onto Fort Hood's Antelope Drop Zone at 6:30 a.m. Feb. 9.
Col. Colin Tuley, commander, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, will conduct interviews upon landing to discuss the beginning of the division's emergency deployment readiness exercise.
The exercise is in preparation to help support the Global Response Force. The GRF is a joint services task force mission that provides combatant commanders with options to respond to national and international crisis. The U.S. Army maintains units with varying capabilities in an on-call status to meet the nation’s needs.
The division regularly conducts this type of training to give paratroopers the chance to deploy their equipment and employ their skill sets. It reinforces their capability to bring the full force of the 82nd Airborne Division to any mission, anywhere in the world.
Media interested in attending the jump must register here no later than 5 p.m. Feb. 8. The gate time for the media is 5:15 a.m. Feb. 9 at the Marvin Leath Visitors Center on T.J. Mills Blvd.
