EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska - Rank and name: Airman 1st Class Angelo Dickerson
Duty title: Cyber transport systems technician, 354th Communications Squadron
Hometown: Danville, Virginia
Why is serving in the Air Force important to you? It’s important to me to support and defend this nation and my family and honor those who served before me.
What moment or accomplishment as a member of the Iceman Team are you most proud of and why? I’m proud that I was given the opportunity to tell my story and to brief wing leadership at the Wing Staff meeting. Colonel Michael Winkler, 354th Fighter Wing commander, called my parents to let them know that he was proud of me and they should be also. That really meant a lot to me.
What is your favorite part of your job? Being able to go all over base and see what great jobs everyone does on a day-to-day basis while still being able to do the job I love.
Who inspires you and why? My grandfather inspires me; making him proud has always been big for me because he was always there whenever I needed anything. He is still there for me to this day and if I need anything he would give anything for me.
What's your favorite part about being in Alaska? I never thought for a day in my life I would end up in Alaska, but I like it. I’ve been able to try so many new things I would’ve never been able to experience anywhere else. The friends I’ve made here is truly what’s made my time here great so far.
