COSTA MESA, Calif. – Jojo Domann, outside linebacker from Pine Creek High School, Colorado Springs, Colorado, was named Colorado Gatorade State Football Player of the Year and is a versatile player who can play several different positions - someone who can be an asset to the West team. There’s just one problem though, Domann will have to leave his talents on the sidelines.

Domann tore his labrum during his high school semi-finals football game while jumping on a fumble when another player jumped onto him, completely dislocating his shoulder and rendering him unable to play in the Semper Fi Bowl. Though Domann can’t play in the game, his time here is not in vain.

“I’m trying to gain some knowledge and learning a new system and meeting new guys at the same time,” said Domann, who participates in practice to the best of his ability and is taking away everything this experience has to offer. “I’m just trying to have a good time and encourage the guys and help them any way that I possibly can and just get my team hyped so we can beat the East.”

Domann is committed to play college football at the University of Nebraska and wasn’t expecting to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience the Marines' exclusive bowl game has to offer.

“I’m very fortunate to be in the situation that I am even though I can’t play, I’m just happy to be here,” said Domann.

The Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl brings together 100 of the nation’s best football players who have demonstrated success both on and off the field. Players selected are well-rounded individuals. Not only are they distinguished athletes, but they also have academic achievements and display exemplary moral characteristics. The weeklong engagement will enable these young men to develop skills not only important to football, but throughout life, such as leadership, self-confidence and teamwork.

The 5th annual Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl will kick off in Carson, California, Jan. 3, 2016, at 6 p.m. Pacific Time on Fox Sports 1.
