SAN DIEGO – The 807th Medical Command Deployment Support, hosted a yellow ribbon reintegration program pre-deployment event for Soldiers attached to the 325th Combat Support Hospital, Army Reserve Component, Dec. 5-6, 2015.
The 325th CSH, from Independence, Missouri, is set to mobilize to Honduras next year. The event provided Soldiers and their families information they will need to cope with the challenges of extended separation and mobilization.
“I felt it was very informative,” said Chandra Michaelis, family member from Lyons, Kansas. “Many of the speakers talked about things for everyday use.”
Deanna Storer, cadre speaker for the YRRP, Nicholas Gains, suicide prevention program manager with 807th MCDS, and Capt. Chad Nixon, public affairs officer with 807th MCDS, were among some of the speakers at the event.
“My section and I use this as an opportunity to assist unit commanders before deployment,” said Nixon. “This is a great opportunity to have the entire unit in place so we can provide them a media briefing, which is a pre-mobilization requirement.”
The YRRP highlights the benefits of the events and the importance of commanders and leaders in assuring that RC service members and their families attend YRRP events where they can access information on health care, education/training opportunities, financial and legal benefits.
According to the Department of Defense, the mission of the YRRP is to promote the well-being of National Guard and Reserve members and their families by connecting them with resources during and beyond the deployment cycle.
These briefings give family members an opportunity to learn about the goings on of the military culture.
“I now have a good perspective of what Soldiers and their families go through,” said Chandra. “I took a lot away from it!”
