    Questions and Answers

Q: How long have you been doing your job?

A: I have been in this position with the 160th FST for 20 months.

    Q: What are your goals?

A: My goals are to be promoted to E-6 (staff sergeant) and to submit application packets for the Army Enlisted Commissioning Program (AECP) and the Interservice Physician Assistant Program (IPAP) to become a commissioned officer in the Army.

    Q: What are your hobbies?

A: I enjoy snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, whittling, playing guitar, Cross Fit, kayaking and traveling.

Q: What do you like most about the Army?

A: My favorite attributes of the Army would have to be the camaraderie and the opportunities to lead Soldiers.

Q: What would you change about the military service life?

A: I would change the education system. I would ensure that more Soldiers are aware of the opportunities available to them and how necessary it is to have an education. I’d also change the policy regarding dropping classes for military reasons, as this can delay a Soldier's potential to earn a degree due to tuition assistance holds.

    Q: Describe your military career.

A: My military career has been an experience mixed with world traveling, a variety of leaders and endless learning.

Q: What do you like most about being stationed in Germany?

A: My favorite things about being stationed In Germany are all of the traveling opportunities available to me and being able to experience a different culture.

Q: What is your favorite movie genre?

A: My favorite movie genre would have to be action (or, whatever my wife wants to watch).

Q: What are you most proud of?

A: I am most proud of the opportunities I have had to lead and serve others and impact their lives in a positive way.

Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you want with you (not survival gear, but things with personal meaning)?

A: If I were stranded, I’d like to have my wife, our dog and a pair of kayaks (or one tandem kayak).

Q: Name someone who has influenced or inspired you during your military career (could be a leader, mentor, peer or subordinate) and explain why.

A: My wife, though not a service member herself, has inspired, influenced and motivated me during my military career. She has been my voice of reason, my sounding-board and a much needed confidant. She has motivated me to keep going when I wanted to quit, and she helps when and where she can to lighten the burden. It has been my wife, supporting and pushing me, that has helped be become the Soldier and the person I am today.

Q: If you could meet one individual, alive or dead, who would it be and why?

A: I would want to meet Carl Sagan. I would want to discuss and learn all he could share about our world and universe; to discuss astrophysics and astronomy; and to hear his thoughts and opinions on what we know today. Carl Sagan has been an inspiration to countless others and has given so much to the world of science. This is why it would be an honor and a pleasure to meet him.
