FORWARD OPERATING BASE MAHMUDIYAH, Iraq – Sunni and Shia Muslims set aside differences to come together for a unity march through the streets of Mahmudiyah on April 6.
Tribal leaders answered the Mahmudiyah Qada mayor's call for their support in bringing tribes together for a march that began in a southern Mahmudiyah neighborhood and ended at a government building north of the Mahmudiyah market.
"The people must support the government of Iraq in order to be successful as individuals," said Mayor Jabbar Farraj Mullah al Chalabi during the gathering. "It is everyone's duty as a citizen to obey the law and keep peace."
Soldiers of the 2nd battalion, 25th brigade, 6th Iraqi army division, provided security for the event with support from Battery A, 3rd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
