BISMARCK, N.D. - A local private group has invited the public to attend a meeting to discuss its proposal for a lighting project at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan, North Dakota. The open forum will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7 at Bismarck's Raymond J Bohn Armory Theater.

The proposed project would add aesthetic lighting to the roadways and walking paths stretching across the cemetery. Members of the private group, as well as facilities personnel from the North Dakota National Guard, will be available to answer questions and provide information about the project. Some of the issues being discussed will include the project's viability, potential timeline for the lighting's installation, estimated costs and potential impacts to surrounding private property. If enacted, this project will be funded through private donations.

The public is encouraged to take this opportunity to ask questions and voice opinions about the proposed lighting project.

The North Dakota Veterans Cemetery was established by an act of the 1989 North Dakota Legislative Assembly. It was opened in July 1992 and is operated by the office of the North Dakota adjutant general.
