CHEYENNE, Wyo. - The F.E. Warren Air Force Base Chapel hosted a Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 19, in the Fall Hall Community Center.
The event was prepared with the combined effort of the chapel and the chapel community, which consist of people from the traditional, Catholic and contemporary services offered on base.
“In the past we have done two separate events, one with the chapel communities, the traditional service, the Catholic community and the contemporary service, and a separate event for the Airmen,” said Capt. Samuel McClellan, 90th Missile Wing chaplain.
Single enlisted, officers and the chapel community took part in activities in an early celebration for Thanksgiving. It was designed to create opportunities for Airmen, without family in the area, to interact with the chapel community.
“This was a way to reach out.” McClellan said. “We wanted to connect the two audiences, especially during the holiday season, and this helps them be aware of the chapel and what we can do.”
Ping pong, rock climbing and a bounce house, among other activities, were provided for people to use along with piles of food offered by the chapel community.
“I like events like this,” said Airman Jesse Cardenas, 90th Missile Security Forces Squadron member. “I’m really close to the chaplains here, and I’m glad I came to check it out and show my support for the community.”
The chapel works day-to-day on a variety of tasks to support the base populous and provide guidance to people seeking help.
