HAMPTON, Va. - Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) Sailors donated more than 100 pounds of clothing for the Homeless Stand Down event at the Y.H. Thomas Community Center in Hampton, Nov. 7.

On behalf of NECC, the First Class Petty Officer Association collected donations and delivered the items for the stand down event. This marks the second year in a row NECC Sailors delivered donations for those less fortunate.

Personnel Specialist 1st Class Ashley Gray, assigned to NECC, helped delivered the items and emphasized on the value of our veterans.

"I thought by helping out it was one small token of our appreciation to honor those veterans who served before us and who might be struggling to make ends meet," said Gray.

NECC's Command Master Chief Corey Heinrich emphasized his appreciation for his Sailors selfless devotion to those who served before them.

"It's always nice to see and hear about our Sailors selfless acts of generosity to those who served before us. This truly shows that our Force and Navy are in great hands," said Heinrich.

In addition to providing donations to area homeless veterans, other Sailors assigned to NECC participated in a special Veterans Day pinning ceremony at the Commonwealth Assisted Living of Hampton, Nov. 9.

NECC is an enduring war fighting force providing sea-to-shore and inland operating environment capabilities across the full range of military operations, which is focused on delivering combat-effective expeditionary forces ready for worldwide operations now and into the future.
