JOINT BASE MCGUIRE DIX LAKEHURST, N.J. - More than 200 Army Reservists in the 333rd Military Police Brigade gathered to welcome new leadership at a change of command ceremony on Sharp Field at Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst, Nov. 7, 2015. Outgoing commander, Col. Keith P. Nadig, relinquished command to incoming commander, Col. Anthony Hartmann.
Deputy commander of the 200th Military Police Commander, Brig. Gen. Marion Garcia, presided over the ceremony.
“As we pass the colors, I look towards the future of this brigade. I see nothing but good things to come. It is because of the groundwork laid by Colonel Nadig, as well as the faith and confidence I have in Colonel Hartmann to continue,” said Garcia.
The handoff of the colors symbolized the tradition of passing of responsibility throughout the army. Wherever the commander is, there also are the colors.
Following the Change of Command Ceremony, Nadig was recognized for years of military service. He was also honored with a Certificate of Recognition from the U.S. Army Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3211.
Garcia, presented Natig with an American flag, which was flown over the USS Constitution, saying, “Congratulations on a successful career and a successful command.”
“Whether we shall meet again I know not. Therefore our everlasting farewells take. Forever and forever, farewell always. If we do meet again, we shall smile. If not, then this parting was well made,” said the tearful Nadig as he recited lines of Shakespeare. “Serve proudly with your sisters and brothers in arms. God bless America and God bless you all.”
The new brigade commander addressed the parade of Soldiers.
“It is an honor to serve you and your families as the commander. I would like to build on the accomplishments that our [Military Police Bridge] has undertaken over the past years,” said Hartmann.
From 1979 to 1982 Hartmann served as a military policeman, and was commissioned as a signal officer in 1998. He went on to deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2002 and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.
