Fleet Activities Chinhae NGIS recognized for excellence

CHINHAE, South Korea –Commander, Fleet Activities Chinhae (CFAC), received the 2015 Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalt Award, for excellence in Bachelor Housing Management.

Seventy-two Navy Gateway Inns and Suite installations were graded similar to commercial hotel inspections, and those selected for the award are considered to be ranked as five star status.

“We are very grateful to be a recipient of this award,” said Mr. Pak, Chong Tu, CFAC NGIS director. “This award encourages us to continue our endeavors to excel in all related areas of lodging services.”

The ratings are the result of a thorough and detailed accreditation process which is mandatory for all visitor quarters operations.

“The Zumwalt Award is another example of the superior service CFAC provides to the fleet, the family and the warfighter,” said Vaas. “It proves that Chinhae is ready to provide the best service while being in a remote location.”

The secretary of the Navy established the Adm. Elmo R. Zumwalt Award in 1974 to recognize housing that professionally maintains facilities and grounds; offer amenities that are equal to or better than those provided by top quality residence halls or mid-grade commercial hotels; and provides exceptional service to all residents and guests.

Commander, Facilities Activities, Chinhae provides service and operational support to the fleet and strengthens the US-ROK alliance by providing C4I, logistics, and personnel support through joint and combined armistice, exercise and contingency operations.
