ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. - A German military delegation visited the 20th CBRNE Command (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives) here Sept. 23.
Brig. Gen. William E. King IV, the commanding general of 20th CBRNE Command, hosted the delegation on Aberdeen Proving Ground's Edgewood Area.
The delegation learned about the unique mission of the 22nd Chemical Battalion (Technical Escort) during a capabilities demonstration.
One of two technical escort battalions in the U.S. Army, the 22nd Chemical Battalion is assigned to the 48th Chemical Brigade and 20th CBRNE Command.
With units on 19 posts in 16 states, the Aberdeen Proving Ground-based 20th CBRNE Command is the Defense Department's only multifunctional formation that combats global chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive threats. The one-of-a-kind command trains with joint, interagency and allied partners around the world.
