FORT HOOD, Texas -- Lt. Gen. Sean MacFarland, III Corps commander, and III Corps Command Sgt. Maj. Alonzo Smith will case the III Corps colors at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at the III Corps flag pole signifying the beginning of the unit’s yearlong deployment to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
The command will serve as the headquarters of the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve.
The command also will lead a regional campaign of coalition and international partners synchronizing military activities against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

Gate time for the event is 3:45 p.m. Aug. 31 at the South side parking lot of the Marvin Leath Visitors Center.
