FORT BRAGG, N.C. – Soldiers and family members gathered at Pope Army Airfield’s Green Ramp to welcome home the Blue Team with the 1st Sustainment Command (Theater) during a redeployment ceremony Aug. 24.

The team deployed to Kuwait for nine months and provided support to Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Afghanistan and Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq. They were replaced by fellow 1st TSC Soldiers who departed from Fort Bragg earlier this month.

During his remarks, Col. Johnney Matthews, chief of staff, 1st TSC, praised the team for a job well done while providing major league sustainment support to the mission.

“It was truly a phenomenal job done on their part as they served our Army and our country with honor and distinction in the performance of their mission,” said Matthews.

In addition to supporting operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, the team also provided support to multi-national forces and observers in Task Force Sinai in Egypt.

“I charge each of you with enjoying your return home to the fullest,” said Matthews. “Be safe and have fun with your loved ones.”

Maj. Charles Diggs, a native of Tuskegee, Alabama, and support operations liaison officer, 1st TSC, is happy to come back home to his wife, Pearlice, after serving his sixth deployment.

“God is good,” said Diggs. “I appreciate the love and support and I’m glad to be home.”

The 1st TSC is a major subordinate command of U.S. Army Central with dual headquarters at Fort Bragg and Kuwait.

The command rotates Soldiers and civilians as part of a regular rotation between the command’s two headquarters.

(The 1st Sustainment Command (Theater) provides Theater Sustainment Mission Command to Army, Joint, and Multinational Forces in support of U.S. Central Command Unified Land Operations in order to enable the combatant commander’s ability to prevent, shape, and win our nation’s wars.)
