BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In front of Soldiers and friends, Col. Raymond Johnson, chief of staff of the Army Reserve Sustainment Command, promoted Lt. Col. (P) Danny Morgan, force development officer with the ARSC from Birmingham, Alabama, to the rank of colonel on Sunday.
Morgan has served more than 33 years of combined service within active duty, Army National Guard, and United States Army Reserve components. In 2011, he deployed to Afghanistan with the 401st Army Field Support Brigade where he served as the chief of operations. During his deployment he directed the support operations with over 45,000 personnel which were geographically dispersed across the entire country.
Morgan took the time to thank his family for their support and remembered his late grandfather who encouraged him.
“My grandfather always told me that God puts opportunity out there, but it’s up to you to go out and get it,” he said.
He also paid tribute to the many Soldiers who helped him along the way.
“I didn’t get here on my own,” said Morgan. “The support I receive from my family and from members of this organization allowed me to gain the experiences and achievements necessary to progress in my career.”
Upon the completion of the promotion ceremony, Soldiers of the ARSC and friends enjoyed a reception to honor Morgan on his day.
