SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. - The Gaming Club is open to members of Team Seymour to enjoy a variety of games and meet new Airmen.

With more than 20 members, the club meets up on a weekly basis at Eagles Landing from 7-10 p.m. to play a variety of games, including electronic games, card games, and board games.

“We usually vote on which games to play when we get together,” said Senior Airman Dai Nguyen, 911th Air Refueling Squadron personnel commander’s support staff. “We play games like Cards Against Humanity, chess, checkers, Ascension, and any other random game lying around.”

The club began under the Make It Better initiative as a way to bring people together and out from behind their computers and televisions, according to Nguyen. The club began with nine members and has continued to grow adding an additional 12 members.

“It’s nice to be able to get together at the end of the week and meet new Airmen,” said Airman 1st Class Alexander Givens, 4th Logistics Readiness Squadron flight service center technician. “I’ve also gotten a chance to play some of the older games I haven’t seen in years and it’s a nice break from the computer too.”

Both Nguyen and Givens agree that the MIB initiative made it possible for their club to take shape and gather Airmen with the same interest. The MIB club days, Facebook, open game nights and word-of-mouth helped garner membership and open the door to this new opportunity.

“The Make It Better initiative has made a big difference in improving base morale,” Nguyen said. “Being able to get together under an official banner and a common interest has made a big difference in getting Airmen from out behind their computers and out of their dorms, or home. I wouldn’t have met the Airmen I know now if it weren’t for the club and the Make It Better initiative made that possible.”
