YOKOSUKA, Japan - U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Far East (NCTSFE) hosted its annual summer picnic for the Shinsen Children's Home at Fleet Activities, Yokosuka, July 24.

The event entertained 71 children, three Shinsen staff members and more than 30 NCTSFE personnel with activities such as swimming, bowling and balloon toss.

"The kids and staff had a lot of fun and were extremely happy with the activities presented to them," said Yeoman 2nd Class Eric Primerosantiago, event coordinator. "It was a very humbling and honoring experience to see the smiles on their faces showing how happy and excited they all were."

According to Primerosantiago, the planning and preparation of the picnic required a lot of coordination but, the smiles and appreciation on the faces of the children was well worth the effort.

The relationship between the U.S. military and Shinsen's Children's Home dates back to 1947.

NCSTFE has sponsored the Shinsen Children's Home since 1988, after assuming the privilege from the Marine Corps.

The NCTSFE Shinsen committee is passionate about this important community relations endeavor and is dedicated towards the command's responsibility to give back to the local communities in which they live and serve.

Each year, the NCTSFE Shinsen committee and a team of volunteers host the children and staff from the home for various events such as Friendship Day Celebrations, Halloween Trick-or-Treating in October, and Children's Christmas party.
