BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan - When an Airmen reaches the end of their tour here, the 455th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron Passenger Terminal ensures all Airmen are booked and ready for their flight back to their home station.

Unlike at stateside locations, the PAX terminal here focuses solely on the redeployment of Airmen from Bagram to their home station.

“All of the Airmen here will finalize their flights through us; we will be the last folks people see being that we provide them with AMC tickets and commercial tickets,” said Senior Airman Sheral Bair, 455th ELRS log planner. “We only support BAF Airmen, the surrounding FOBs within the AOR have their own passenger terminals.”

When an individual approaches their last few weeks in the AOR, unit travel representatives are responsible for contacting their units to get information on re-deployments such as leave en-route dates as well as government travel information. Once this information is received, the UTR then works with the PAX terminal on arranging space available and reserved flights for members to fly to their next destination outside of the AOR.

“We mostly work with the UTR’s, it’s an easier process to go through them as they will always have the exact information we need for movement planning,” Bair said. “Once all the information is gathered and we have a solid movement date, then our PAX terminal NCO will begin to generate commercial tickets for the member.”

Whether they are sending one person home or an entire group, the PAX terminal is always busy getting Airmen back home safe to their families.

“We do our best to get folks out of here on time; we work alongside contractors so they play a large role as well,” she said. “Each section within the passenger terminal plays a part in getting our members home, we all work together to get the mission done and get our guys back home.”
