RAMSTEIN, Germany – The 212th Combat Support Hospital showcased its capabilities to German military and local citizens during Rheinland-Pfalz Tag (Rheinland Palatinate Day) 2015 while communicating and learning from other U.S and German military capabilities June 26-28.

The fair, a combination of German and American vendors and booths, had a large military presence to show the local community what they have to offer. The event allowed interaction between U.S. and German forces to learn each other’s capabilities and ways of implementing care.

The 212th CSH joined other U.S. Forces and German Armed Forces stationed in Rheinland-Pfalz to present themselves at the “Plaza of Military Forces.” The exhibition showcased the CSH’s military medical equipment, provide information on medical capabilities, a slideshow highlighting the CSH in action, and included a snapshot of emergency medical treatment, intensive care unit, Lab, X-ray, pharmacy, and operating room.

Along with educating thousands of local German citizens on their capabilities, Maj. Gen. Duane A. Gamble, the commanding general of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command; Air Force Lt. Gen. Tom Jones, U.S. Air Forces in Europe - Air Force Africa vice commander and Kaiserslautern Military Community commander; German Lt. Gen. Hans-Werner Fritz, Bundeswehr Joint Forces Operations commander; Col. Brian D. Almquist, 212th CSH commander; and Roger Lewentz, the interior minister of Rheinland-Pfalz were among the many Soldiers and officials briefed on the 212th CSH capabilities.

The members of the community were able to practice ventilating simulated patients, check their heart rate and pulse oximeter reading, examine slides on the microscope, tour the hospital, and learn about other jobs related to the CSH. Visitors also received a “goodie” bag on the way out.

1st Lt. Keisha Green, the officer in charge of this event for the 212th CSH, saw this event as a great opportunity for joint training in the future with the 212th CSH and their Bundeswehr medical counterparts.

“Rheinland-Pfalz Day is a great way to interact with the German armed forces and see what all we have in common. It’s a good way to showcase not only the CSH but also the U.S. military,” said Green.

According to organizers, the 30th Medical Brigade and 212th CSH once again showed they are on the leading edge of joint readiness and training with their European counterparts. The 212th CSH will continue to find events such as Rheinland-Pfalz Tag 2015 train and integrate themselves in the “Strong Europe” platform.
