SHAW AIR BASE, S.C. - Chief Master Sgt. Christopher McKinney, 20th Fighter Wing command chief, conducted an enlisted call, here, July 23, to share his past with Airmen and speak on his expectations for the wing.

Being the new command chief, McKinney conducted two separate enlisted calls during the day to ensure maximum attendance.

Col. Stephen Jost, 20th FW commander, introduced McKinney to Airmen saying a few words about his past experiences with him and firing up the audience with the impact the Airman Up! initiative has had on the base.

"I've had the pleasure of working with him before and I can tell you that he is the Airman's Airman and he cares deeply about you," said Jost.

McKinney, a Luling, Texas, native who joined the Air Force in 1987, spoke to the Airmen about trust, loyalty and standards. He also introduced the beginning of the "Shaw Standard" initiative to go along with Airman Up!

The chief encouraged Airmen to be engaged in maintaining standards and to not only be proud of the uniform they wear and the facilities they have, but to take care of them and aim to constantly work to be the best and give their all.

"You have what it takes," said McKinney, "but what matters is if you are going to step up to the plate. Who's going to do it for your section, unit, or group? Who's the one who is going to take Shaw Standard and make that a banner alongside Airman Up!?"

In addition he tasked supervisors to be more hands-on with their Airmen and sit down and take the time to give corrective feedback.

McKinney ended the enlisted call with a display of gratitude for all of those who volunteered to serve and showed admiration for those who sacrificed their own wants for the needs of the Air Force.
