SEOUL, Republic of Korea – Combined Forces Command and Republic of Korea forces will conduct a Combined Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore exercise from June 29 through July 9, 2015 at the Anmyeon Beach on the west coast of the Republic of Korea.

This exercise will train the ROK-US service members on how to accomplish vital logistical measures in an area with strategic access to Seoul. CJLOTS will have approximately 1,700 total personnel participating in the exercise with approximately 900 U.S. and 800 ROK personnel.

CJLOTS 2015 demonstrates the ROK and U.S. ability to transfer solid and liquid cargo from the sea to the shore and aims to improve logistics interoperability, communication and cooperation between the U.S. and South Korea. Examples of solid cargo include wheeled containers and equipment. Liquid cargo for this exercise will be water, but the Offshore Petroleum Discharge System could also be used for fuel.

This will be the second time the CJLOTS exercise is occurring on the west coast of the ROK, due to the challenges of significant tidal fluctuations, or change in water levels of up to 8 meters or 29 feet on the shore area. This exercise involved extensive planning to overcome these challenges, such as extending a portable pier over 400 meters of muddy tidal flats.
