BOLETICE, Czech Republic - Soldiers from the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command are enabling command and control during exercise Tobruq Legacy in the Boletice military training area, Czech Republic, June 25 to July 3.

Five countries with nearly 500 hundred soldiers and airmen are participating in this first Tobruq Legacy, including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Lithuania, with two other countries coming to observe for possible future participation.

For their contribution to the exercise, the 10th AAMDC soldiers brought communications equipment that can take data gathered from the other four NATO countries and combine it with data from a Sentinel radar system provided by Soldiers from the Ohio National Guard's 174th Air Defense Brigade and translate it for all countries to use during air defense targeting of short range targets and very short range targets.

"I've learned how they can command and control their fire units at their respective echelons and how we can tie into that and support and enable them further," said Chief Warrant Officer 3 Wesley Dohogn, the 10th AAMDC command and control systems integrator.

Working in their Air Defense and Airspace Management or ADAM shelter, the 10th AAMDC team is already comfortable working with each other, but now they have four other countries to consider.

"Were making a lot of friends with our Czech, Slovak, Hungarian and Lithuanian partners. We're learning about their capabilities and systems and are able to teach them about our capabilities and systems, and we're all growing and learning as a team," Dohogn said.

"I think it's very important because it establishes friendships; the whole purpose of NATO is for us to work together," said Sgt. Corinne Rogers, Air Battle Systems operator.

The Czech Republic is the host of Tobruq Legacy 2015 and the more than 500 soldiers and airmen taking part in it, and they hope that each country gets something out of this experience and that other countries can take part in the future.

"I am convinced that we all are well-prepared, highly motivated and that we have a common will to successfully fulfill our exercise objectives," said Deputy Commander of the Czech air force Brig. Gen. Jaromir Sebesta.
