CHICAGO – Army Reserve Staff Sgt. Terrence Barron, 85th Support Command human resources specialist, received an "on the field" honor during a Chicago Cubs home game vs. the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field on June 11.
Barron, a Troy, Alabama, native, attended the evening game with local friends to include youths that he currently coaches in basketball.
Barron, serving as an active/Guard/Reserve (AGR) soldier, stated that this was the first time that he had the opportunity to attend a major league game in Chicago since being assigned here.
Barron walked out onto the field during the top of the fourth inning to a roaring crowd of more than 35,000 spectators. Sports fans throughout the stadium were able to capture a better view of Barron from the recently installed Jumbotron there.
“It was a real good experience,” said Barron. “It was my first time (here), so it was a real good experience for me. I’m so happy to see everyone out.”
Barron was honored for his 13 years of service in the Army, to include two deployments, one in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to Qatar, and one in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to Baghdad.
