RAPID CITY, S.D. – Members of the South Dakota Air National Guard’s 114th Civil Engineer Squadron from Sioux Falls work with Danish Army service members to construct sidewalks on Camp Rapid in Rapid City, June 9.

The sidewalk construction project is one of several projects the squadron will complete during the Golden Coyote training exercise.

“It is important to practice these skills and working with joint forces gives us a chance to learn new things together,” said Danish Army Lance Cpl. Ejner Libach.

For several of the service members working on the project, it’s their first time attending Golden Coyote, as well as their first opportunity to utilize the training they received beforehand.

“It’s a great learning experience for all of us, there’s a lot to learn from each different project especially for those who are new,” said Master Sgt. Jacob Erpenbach, one of the project supervisors for the 114th CES. “It’s rewarding to be able to come back several years later and see the work you have done is still here and that it’s appreciated by people.”
