MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan - U.S. Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy visited Misawa Air Base on June 11.
Kennedy spoke with U.S. military members and their families and took tours of U.S. Navy aircraft during the visit.
She was able to see one of the Navy's newest maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft, the P-8A Poseidon, belonging to the “Pelicans” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 45; an EA-18G "Growler" airborne electronic attack aircraft, belonging to the “Black Ravens” of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 135; and a P-3C Orion long-range, anti-submarine warfare (ASW) patrol aircraft, belonging to the “Screaming Eagles” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 1.
Ambassador Kennedy also visited with local government leaders during her time in Misawa.
