EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska - Honest, dependable and motivated are just a few words that can describe a model Airman.

Words like these are used by colleagues to describe Senior Airman Matthew Ringer, a 354th Maintenance Squadron electronic warfare technician.

“I honestly can’t describe Airman Ringer in one word,” said Tech. Sgt. Eric Robertson, the 354th MXS electronic warfare section chief. “He has an outstanding work ethic and is one of the best Airmen I’ve had the pleasure of working with.”

Ringer has stood out among his peers by winning multiple wing-level awards, including the 354th Fighter Wing Airman of the Year.

“He is always open to a challenge,” Robertson said. “He never shies away from a task because it is too hard.”

Because of his exceptional performance, Ringer was also chosen to represent Eielson during the annual Fairbanks Military Appreciation Banquet, where distinguished guests attended, including the Pacific Air Forces commander, Gen. Lori Robinson.

“Airman Ringer is one of the best technicians I have ever met, he has a work ethic that surpasses all his peers,” said Staff Sgt. David DeJesus, a 354th MXS avionics quality assurance inspector. “Not only is he extremely professional, but he exemplifies the whole Airman concept.”

Although he is projected to sew on staff sergeant stripes July 1, Ringer will spend little time as an NCO in the military due to his recent selection to Officer Training School, after which he will become an intelligence officer.

“The Air Force would benefit tremendously if we had more Airmen with the same motivation, drive and integrity as Airman Ringer,” DeJesus stated. “If more people were like him, many problems that plague our Air Force would disappear and our full potential as a service could be realized.”
