FORT LEE, Va. – Summertime is here and it’s time for family vacations. As commissary shoppers plan their summer vacation, the Defense Commissary Agency encourages them to go online to www.commissaries.com and check out available savings to help extend their savings even further.

“Our commissaries.com website features a sales flyer that’s updated every two weeks on our Sales and Events page where authorized shoppers can see pictures of products on sale with sale prices,” said DeCA Sales Director Tracie Russ. “It’s a great resource for patrons to check the best prices on products as they go on and off sale.”

The Events page also lists new products and an Exclusive Savings link to coupons and other offers from commissary vendors.

Russ also reminds patrons that June is the second month of the Commissary Customer Appreciation Case Lot Sales, which are available throughout the United States. Patrons can also check www.commissaries.com for specific dates and locations.

DeCA’s industry partners – vendors, suppliers and brokers – are collaborating with commissaries in June to offer discounts beyond everyday savings. Always check what’s on the “end of the aisle” for themed items with extra-low pricing. Overseas stores may have substitute events for certain promotional programs. Customers should check with their store manager to verify when they will be offering the following sales events:

    • Overseas Service Corp. is bringing back Patriot Perks for the third year June 4 through July 8. This program will feature product displays with Patriot Perks signage in commissaries worldwide and also be featured on the MyMilitarySavings.com website. • The Fifth Annual Red White & Blue Reunion contest is taking place stateside May 21 – July 8. Commissary patrons can enter to win a family vacation to one of five U.S. national parks by submitting a short essay on “Why My Family Should Win a Trip to a National Park.” Winning entries will receive an all-inclusive family vacation to one of America’s national parks valued at up to $10,000 each. Also, 10 winners will each be awarded $100 Commissary Gift Cards. Sweepstakes information tear pads will be in commissaries throughout the duration of the promotion. Winners will be announced on Unilever’s dedicated Military website, Operation In-Touch, www.operationintouch.com. “Summer is a great time of year to get outdoors and hike, bike and barbecue,” Russ said. “Whatever the time or event, we strive diligently every day to offer our military members and their families the very best products and savings available anywhere in the world, at any time of the year!”

    -DeCA-

About DeCA: The Defense Commissary Agency operates a worldwide chain of commissaries providing groceries to military personnel, retirees and their families in a safe and secure shopping environment. Commissaries provide a military benefit and make no profit on the sale of merchandise. Authorized patrons purchase items at cost plus a 5 percent surcharge, which covers the costs of building new commissaries and modernizing existing ones. By shopping regularly in the commissary, patrons save an average of 30 percent or more on their purchases compared to commercial prices – savings amounting to thousands of dollars annually. A core military family support element, and a valued part of military pay and benefits, commissaries contribute to family readiness, enhance the quality of life for America’s military and their families, and help recruit and retain the best and brightest men and women to serve their country.
