LAKEWOOD, Wash. - Marine Corps Security Force Battalion (MCSFBn) - Bangor selected 400 Sailors, Marines and family members to attend the Seattle Seahawk's NFL Draft Day Experience hosted in a hangar bay at Joint Base Lewis - McChord, May 2.

More than 2,000 Pacific Northwest Sailors, Marines, Soldiers, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen and their families participated in the event where multiple service members from each branch called out draft picks during the third day of the NFL Draft 2015, live on national television.

“It’s always an honor to represent my command and the Navy, but it was nerve racking being live on the air,” said Master-at-Arms 3rd Class Suji Campbell, of Montrose, Colorado, and stationed with MCSFBn. “This is one experience I will always remember from my time in the Navy.”

Several Seattle Seahawks were present providing autographs and showing their appreciation for the armed forces.

“I’m honored to represent all of my current, former and future Seahawks by giving thanks to the service members here,” said Greg Scruggs, number 98 and a defensive end on the team. “I had no idea what it would be like here, but it turned out to be a great experience to share with the military community.”

The event featured multiple activity booths focused on combine events where children could participate and compete with Seahawks; its success was attributed to garnering participation through communication with local commands according to Seahawks staff and JBLM public affairs.

“We jump at every opportunity to represent the Marine Corps and Navy in the community,” said 1st Sergeant Timothy Riggs, stationed with MCSFBn. “I’m proud of my Sailors and Marines who not only execute their mission well, but engage the community whenever possible.”
