FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Students at Cornerstone Christian Academy were visited and ministered to by a “Lightning Brigade” Soldier in the campus chapel April 10 here.

Maj. Matthew Sprecher, 525th Military Intelligence Brigade Chaplain, visited CCA and shared a message about the “Full Armor of God.”

Passages in the Bible that describe the “Full Armor of God” can be found in Ephesians chapter 6, verses 10-18.

“This was a good outreach opportunity to get out to minister to children and to network with local Churches and schools,” said Sprecher. “I think the children had fun because they were very interested and attentive.”

Sprecher brought in some of his equipment to represent the “armor of God” and a student put on this equipment to illustrate the subject matter to the students.

Dawn Long, CCA third grade teacher, noted the effectiveness of the way Sprecher ministered to the students.

“Whenever you put a visual in front of students, they’re going to understand it better,” said Long. “The use of a student and all the ‘armor of God’ brought God’s word to life for the students.”

Along with other students, Joshua Ellis, CCA third grader and son of Sgt. 1st Class Jeffery Ellis, 44th Medical Brigade emergency care noncommissioned officer, got to wear some military armor and learned some important lessons from Sprecher’s message.

“You should not just listen to the word of God but heed to it,” said Ellis. “All the parts of the word of God protect you and if you don’t wear them, you could have trouble in your life.”
