SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. – U.S. Army Central joined Gulf Cooperation Council nations and international partners in Exercise Eagle Resolve, the premiere U.S. multilateral exercise within the Arabian Peninsula, in Kuwait, from March 11-31.

Eagle Resolve 2015 is an exercise designed to assess participants' ability to respond as a multinational headquarters staff, followed by a series of tactical demonstrations of land, maritime and air forces from several nations.

“More than 30 Arab and foreign countries are expected to participate,” said Lt. Col. Mohammad Al-Kandari, chief of Kuwait’s joint military operations.

About 5,500 troops from 29 nations actually took part in this year’s iteration of Eagle Resolve.

The multinational exercise featured demonstrations of military skill across a range of scenarios. Events included a simulated mass casualty event, close quarters battle, search and seizure training at sea, and water survival training. USARCENT units served as lead trainers for the vehicle-borne improvised explosive device scenarios, and USARCENT 34th Combat Aviation Brigade and partner nation special operations forces conducted a simulated hostage rescue mission using UH-60 Black Hawk crews.

“This is the first time the Kuwaiti government has hosted Exercise Eagle Resolve,” said Col. Jody Nelson, chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear officer and USARCENT’s director of force protection. “It’s important that we continue to revitalize and strengthen our partnerships through security cooperation activities, such as Eagle Resolve, increasing our partner nation relationships.”

About 3,000 U.S. military personnel – representing USCENTCOM headquarters and its components – provided support to the exercise. Eagle Resolve concludes with a senior leader seminar, allowing key military leaders to discuss issues of regional interest.
