FORT WORTH, Texas - Marines of Marine Aircraft Group 41 started the day off with a breakfast fit for warriors Sunday at the unit’s supply building.

The Warrior’s Breakfast was provided by the Military Family Outreach Team through their Military Family Outreach Program. Volunteers got to base early to set up and serve breakfast to the Marines starting at 6:30 a.m.

“What you have is a bunch of people who just love getting together, taking care of people, making them smile and giving them a great day,” said James A. Hensley, the national director of joint operations for the Military Family Outreach Team. “If we’re not helping Marines, we’re helping someone else.”

Founded in 2007, the program is a privately funded organization that connects and trains families in the Fort Worth area that want to volunteer with outreach projects that benefit Marines. The Military Family Outreach Team is part of the Fleet Marine Force Association. Through the organization, volunteers support events like family days and retirement ceremonies, or provide disaster relief for Marines and their families.

Through his long-standing relationship with MAG-41, Hensley was able to connect with the commanding officer of the unit, Col. Tray J. Ardese, and set up the event during the drill weekend.

“James contacted me and said he’d like to come out and feed the Marines of MAG-41,” said Ardese, “so we gathered as many people as we could to participate.”

Marines from MAG-41 including the headquarters element, Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 234 and Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 112 took part in the breakfast event that provided an opportunity for good food and spending time with fellow Marines.

“Our general mission was, as always, to take care of Marines,” Ardese added. “The way you take care of Marines is to build camaraderie and esprit de corps.”

The Military Family Outreach Team intends to keep organizing morale-building events for Marines in the years to come. The team has another Warrior’s Breakfast scheduled for the 14th Marine Regiment in the near future.
