FORT HOOD, Texas – The 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division is scheduled to attend a training rotation at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California, April 20 through May 8.
NTC rotation 15-07 is unique because it is the first in which multiple components (National Guard and Reserve) and a Stryker/Armor task force will be simultaneously deployed within an armored brigade combat team at NTC to conduct a Decisive Action Rotation.
In addition to five of its organic battalions, the 3rd ABCT will deploy to Fort Irwin with the 3rd Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment from Fort Riley, Kansas; the 4th Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment from Fort Bliss, Texas; the 3rd Assault Helicopter Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment of Fort Hood’s 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, as well as Army National Guard and Reserve units from 12 states, including Alabama, California, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Kansas, Texas, New Jersey and Utah.
