    310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command

FORT HOOD, Texas - More than 20 Soldiers from the 310 Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve on Sunday.

The 310th SC(E) was notified in early December of an overseas advise and assist mission. The unit handpicked a team of their most qualified leaders to take on the mission of working side-by-side with Iraqis, training them on logistical operations.

For roughly a month, Soldiers from the 310th SC(E) and the 82nd Sustainment Brigade have been training at North Fort Hood for their mission in Iraq. Here they conducted weapons qualification, night fire, counter IED training, combat lifesaver training, hand-to-hand combat, foreign weapons training, as well as adviser training with former Iraqi officers at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Amid their rigorous training schedule, the unit hosted a deployment ceremony at the North Fort Hood chapel where Brig. Gen. Michael Dillard offered words of encouragement to the Soldiers.

“We have selected a team who is elite in mission accomplishment,” Dillard said. “We have decided to formulate a team who understands the purpose of a professional Soldier. It is now the time for a role of expertise, intelligence and intestinal fortitude to lead and share knowledge for the purpose of our national security.”

Col. Michael Midkiff, the commander of the team going forward, expressed how proud he was of the team’s hard work and dedication to preparing for this mission.

“They’ve all stepped up and worked hard to complete many requirements in only a few short weeks,” Midkiff said. “The staff at Fort Polk provided positive feedback indicating that these Soldiers are prepared for this mission.”

After the ceremony, Staff Sgt. Jeremiah Bard, a logistic specialist from the 310th SC(E), expressed that he really wants to make a difference.

“I hope that whatever we’re going over here to do makes a difference, and I’m going to try my hardest and I hope everyone else on this team does too, so we can help (the Iraqis) win the fight they’re in,” Bard said.
