MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Marines who are scheduled to transition from active duty will be given the opportunity to attend the live and virtual hiring event at Marston Pavilion aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune March 3.

Marines who are scheduled to transition from active duty will be given the opportunity to attend the live and virtual hiring event at Marston Pavilion aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune March 3.

The event is open to all service members who are available for employment as of June 30.

“In order to attend this event, service members must register online, develop a profile with at least six military skills and upload a resume,” said Tony Parks, a transition readiness advisor with the Marine and Family Programs aboard base. “The applicants will be assigned a case manager to assist with the development of skills and their resume.”

Militaryhiringevents.com suggests candidates update their skills and profile information to help the system match service members to open positions.

“Unlike other job fairs, this event is an opportunity in which a qualified service member will be interviewed and potentially receive a job offer on the spot,” said Parks, a native of Portland, Oregon. The goal of the hiring event is to gain post-service employment immediately after separating from the military.

“There are entirely way too many unemployed veterans,” said Daniel Cooper, a personal and professional advising supervisor aboard base and native of Waynesville, North Carolina. “The transition readiness team aboard the base and Marine Corps
Air Station New River are dedicated to the service members and their families in the pursuit of their post-service transitional goals. It’s an excellent opportunity to use the skills they have learned during their time in the service.”

The event will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and attendees should be ready to interview on the spot.

“This is an excellent chance for service members to begin a new career or utilize skills honed on active duty,” said Parks.
